My dear friends,
Tiles industries in India facing closures due to massive dumping of Chinese Tiles imported through Cochin, Chennai, Vizag and Calcutta ports.
As it is a known fact that 80% of Domestic supplies of Tiles being manufactured from nearly 250 industries situated in Morbi, Himmatnagar in Gujarat and it is facing tough times to produce tiles any more due to increase in Raw Material prices, labour charges etc.,
The Tiles industries in the Country contributes a turnover of Rs.2890 Crores through Branded Tiles manufactured by leading companies and S.S.I sector of Non-branded Tiles being sold for about Rs.3500 Crores per annum.
Those Branded Tiles are being sold at Rs.400 per box when compared to Non-branded Tiles @ Rs.150 per box, where as those Chinese Suppliers are flooding the grey market @ Rs.90 – Rs.100 per box which led the Indian Tiles Industries forcing closures as they are unable to compete with the Chinese Goods.
Already nearly 20% of the Indian Tile manufactures shut down their industries and others are to follow the same in due course, in case of furthur dumping from Chinese Manufacturers.
Fates of our Indian Small Scale Tiles manufacturers are under the mercy of government now & time to rectify those mass dumping of Chinese goods by increasing the customs duty so that our industry can survive.
Can we expect immediate actions from our government or we are forced to close our industries remain a puzzle.

Yes my dear Naval Lankaji,
Thanks for highligting the inferior quality of Chinese goods and concerns for dumping in our market.
Our Small Scale Industries in all the fields are running rough weathers due to global open market policies and we were able to sustain mainly on our Guarented Quality & workmanship.
Thanks for the kind visits and observatory feedbacks.

Subbujee,
yes, the Chinese goods are hurting our domestic industries.
so far as the Tiles business is concerned, we must understand that in these days of extra ordinary prices of land and the high labour cost, the materials used forms not more than 20% of the total cost. Now if any person uses inferior materials in construction of his/her house it would be a bad bargain. So go for the quality should be the slogan. And for the quality of the Chinese goods lesser said is better.
